Where the pine trees meet the ocean and a classic tavern meets a modern interpretation. Where our name and concept were sparked by the rich history and hospitality of old Rehoboth Beach.

The Pines was designed to pay homage to old Rehoboth Beach and to thoughtfully remind visitors of what Rehoboth Beach was like then and now. A charming beach town perfect for celebrating the important things in life - Family, Friends, and Love.

Tyler Townsend
Growing up in Rehoboth Beach and raised by a family with roots in the restaurant world, it is no surprise that Tyler found his way into the same industry. Spending quality time in his family’s restaurants created lasting memories and left a big impact.

As a Rehoboth Beach native, Tyler also developed a love for baseball and soon became a local superstar. He was recognized time and time again for his play on and off the field, which lead to a 3rd round draft by the Baltimore Orioles in 2009. Dedicating himself to his well-earned career, Tyler jumped in with both feet, but shortly after he began this new journey, life threw him a curve ball. It was a career ending injury that interrupted this path, however, Tyler is never one to back down from a challenge, and instead, draws inspiration and likes to push himself into new experiences.

So, as fate would have it, he reflected on the things that brought joy and happiness into his life and he landed back in the culinary scene. As a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Tyler launched his entrepreneurial spirit into the restaurant industry. Here he cultivated his vision of opening his own restaurant.

Drawing on his keen insight and industry knowledge, Tyler took his vision and began the process of opening The Pines. He is passionate about creating a special space and experience for people, one that is relaxing, carefree and simply fun.

His hope is that guests will find the atmosphere at The Pines to be unlike any other establishment in town. A place to celebrate the important things in life – family, friends and good times.

Bob Suppies
An east coast native, originally from Maine (The Pine Tree State), Bob has lived and worked in and around Rehoboth Beach since 1997. After graduating from the University of Maine, he found his way into a highly successful career in retail for the past 28 years. He retired in 2017 but little does he know...

Having been recognized as a guru in people development - it was there that he discovered his passion for coaching, leading and shaping teams, as well as, thoughtful marketing/design.

On a personal level, his passions include food/wine, desserts (he has a sweet tooth second to none), helping his community and friends, and spending time with his partner Vadim and their two Jack Russell Terriers (Willie and Shelby).

Dane Wilfong
Executive Chef
Born and raised on the water outside of Baltimore City, Dane Wilfong found his calling to cuisine at a very young age after landing a job at a seafood restaurant in his hometown. This first experience was somewhat of a “trial by fire” in which Dane found himself rapidly moving up the ranks until he was ultimately running the kitchen within a few short months. From here he dove into his studies of the culinary arts and hospitality management at various institutions.

Over the course of his education Dane pursued opportunities in the catering space, which presented a fresh outlook on breaking the boundaries of food and ambiance. Armed with this new knowledge, he was inspired to share his new outlook and jumped back into the restaurant scene.

This led to an Executive Chef position at Cafe Troia where he took the reigns with fresh pasta dishes and gained a true appreciation for the love of ingredients. It was here that he focused on developing his understanding of wine, spirits and food pairings. Next up came a handful of valuable learning experiences through numerous consulting jobs where he honed in and introduced new skills such as mixology, farming, foraging, rooftop gardens, in-house butchery and charcuterie making and farm-to-table catering. Needless to say, Dane is the epitome of a well-rounded chef who is driven to explore the unknown.

His passion for food is shared with that of the environment in which he draws constant inspiration. He marks beautiful moments in nature within his mind in order to dazzle you with pops of color and that “wow” factor in his dishes. He loves nothing more than walking into a room and seeing smiles, hearing laughter and observing guests enjoying his culinary creations.

His vision for The Pines is to bring something new to the Rehoboth Beach community. There will be fire, there will be color, there will be salt and there will be seafood but with new modern twists and a style all their own.

Paige Townsend

Paige grew up in Rehoboth Beach and is a Beebe Baby. Paige was also born into the restaurant life and worked as a hostess through high school and continued through college serving and bartending.

While THE PINES was under construction, Paige was a wine consultant for a small wine distributing company which left her inspired to become a Sommelier. Paige is almost completely finished with training and loves to share her knowledge and passion for our wines.

Personally, Paige is a professionally trained esthetician and make-up artist with a concentration in special effects. She is very family oriented and loves spending her free time with her fiancé, their daughter, and family/friends.
