The Pines is pleased to announce the kick-off of the "True Blue Jazz 1st Wednesday at THE PINES!" Series.

The 1st Wednesday of every month, True Blue Jazz (of the popular True Blue Jazz Festival founded by Eddie Sherman and Peggy Raley) and THE PINES have partnered to bring you best-in-class performers from around the county.

This Wednesday's Show is going to be quite the show!  Come enjoy the amazing The Eric Boyd Trio : Brother Ray Show in tribute to The Genius of Soul icon Ray Charles.

For almost two decades, The Eric Byrd Trio (EBT), pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd, bassist Bhagwan Khalsa, and drummer Alphonso Young, Jr., have traveled the world as enthusiastic ambassadors of jazz. Rooted in swing and be-bop, The Trio also embraces gospel and the blues as core elements of their expansive performance style. Their body of work spans seven unique studio and live recordings on which they shine as a Trio and as collaborators with an expanded 8-piece ensemble they call The Eric Byrd Trio: Brother Ray Band, in tribute to The Genius of Soul icon Ray Charles. On each recording, they take a rigorous, modern approach to standards as well as original compositions, playing with great acuity within the broad and rich jazz tradition.

The Eric Byrd Trio: Brother Ray Band (EBT: BRB) has the Trio at its core, augmenting the group with a horn section, a guitarist, and Eric Byrd on vocals.  What originally began as a tribute to the Ray Charles songbook has now taken on a musical life of its own.

This group has recorded not one but two CDs of material.  One of those recordings features the late Chuck Brown, Washington, DC’s “Godfather of Go-Go” music.

EBT: BRB has played many jazz and non-jazz venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.  Some concerts included the Hagerstown Blues Festival, Baltimore’s Artscape, the Avalon Theater in Easton, MD, the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, and the Baltimore Book Festival to name a few. They have also recorded a series of YouTube videos where fans can see the whole band in action.

Doors and Lounge open at 5:30pm/Showtime 7pm.  Lounge Menu, Wine and Cocktails served.  Reservations required.
